Chairman's End Of Season Report 2007

First of all, a big thanks to everyone who has been involved in the club over the last year. I know that’s its not been the best of years as far as the number of games involved and the number of 13 a side fixtures has been poor (just the one at Halifax at the start of the season) but hopefully that should improve next year with the merit league being run.

Right now for the important stuff

From next season all our home games will be played at Crigglestone All Blacks’ ground (unless a better offer comes up for any games). The only cost of us to use the ground is that we all get a drink from the bar afterwards and that we run a raffle to help cover the costs for the bar stuff. I’m sure you’ll all agree that this is a brilliant deal for us. This will also be the first time since we first formed that we have had a settled home ground.

I’m told by our service area rep (thanks to him also for his year this year) that our funding application is a really good one and there should be no reason for it to be turned down. This will give us £5000 from around March time to play with. This will mean that we should be able to hire a proper coach and pay to use places to help improve the skill levels. This again will be a major development for the club as it’ll be the first time we’ll had money up front so one person doesn’t how to worry about losing money just to keep the club going. This money will be on top of the money generated through players’ subs and sponsorship money.

The really big point I want people to walk around with is the Sponsorship. If everyone who was involved in the club could sell 4 tickets we would sell out of tickets and raise around £1000. Not only this a great start to next season, it will also generate plenty of links with businesses, a major advantage we would have over the clubs who are only dealing with a couple of businesses. It doesn’t take any effort to ask someone.

There should also be plenty of news in the New Year about the Merit League and various courses that I will be sending people on. In the mean time I hope that you all have a good Christmas and hopefully I’ll see you all on Boxing Day.
